Daggerboard gasket, a cautionary tale

I replaced the gasket as it was getting a bit flat and letting weed get trapped when lifting the board to remove weed.
Procedure  was easy, I use paint brush cleaner to remove glue.
However , after the first race I noticed a couple of  gallons of water in the hull. As there was no obvious cause I stuck a hose in the bung hole and water started coming out of the daggerboard  slot!.
Back at home, boat upside down and gasket  removed I  could see a couple of small (but big enough) holes where removing the  old gasket has pulled the sealant bog out from the join and let the  water through.  An easy fix with epoxybut less annoying  if you don't sink before finding  out and don't  have to  buy a second packet of  gasket fluff
