RS Aero Rigging Tips

Good to hear from you!

The 'JC strap' is just one length of bungee passing through a 30mm block on the bow and with two clips to attach each end to the rear kicker attachment on the boom.

The limitations are covered in the Class Rules and the rigging description can by found in the Rigging Manual.

Both of those documents are available on the Documents Page of the Class Website.

I use about 1.60m of 6mm bungee.

Hi Peter,

I hope this message finds you well. Quick question: what is the length of the bungee cord used to hold the boom out while downwind sailing on light days? You use 2 bungees, one on each side, correct??

A lovely first sail Wainui/Akaroa harbour NZ. On my 7 in maybe 10-12 knots at best so wasn't fully powered, but a good start. I'll choose the 9 next time. Compared to a Laser I found her much more comfortable (wide curved deck), dry, easier to tack with the high boom, light on the tiller, crisp through the water. I tried a capsize while friends were close by and that was a bit more challenging, I got lucky the first time, but then pulled it on top of me next try. 3rd time I pulled some mainsheet and that worked well. Lots to learn!

RS Aero Rigging Tips

Thanks to the RYA for shooting this introductory video for their Dinghy Racing Channel on a sunny day at Lymington last week.
