centreboard case gasket

I need to redo the centreboard gasket fluff on the bottom  where the sand and salt has had its way over the past four years.  I have the material and, as Dirk mentioned, it has a self adhesive tape on the gasket fluff.  Are you supposed to use an additional adhesive as well?  Canada doesn't have Hypabond-contact adhesive and I understand it can't be shipped from England here.  Anyone have any ideas of what to use here in North America or will the self adhesive tape last for a bit?  Any other tips on how to change it out for a ham-fisted sailor who is anything but handy!  It should be straight forward but, if there is a way to mess up, I will find it.

Hi Peter,

thank you very much for your answer.
The short term solution became quite obvious after unpacking the gasket.
There is a self adhesive strip on the gasket.
I assume that the combination of very warm weather, lots of salt and sand here in Muscat will make the gluestrip on the gasket fail pretty soon.
When I am in Europe next time I'll get a tin of hypabond-contact-adhesive.

Cheers,
Dirk

Hi all,

anyone an idea which type of glue to use for glueing the centreboard case gasket into the centreboard case?
I tried epoxy but that didn't work as expected.

Cheers,
Dirk
