Mainsail storage - are you rolling it around a PVC pipe

Indeed, that is THE question:

But why didn't the bag maker put two handles on in manufacture?

I was similarly not happy with the 'Bag Sag' but took a different route:-

When I bought a replacement set I had the single handle replaced by two handles spaced approx 1.5 m apart.
Apart from never carrying any sail bag of any boat I have ever owned by just one hand or handle I do not get 'bag sag' with these.
And find it quite easy to carry all three sails at once every time I sail: from storage to car & car to boat pitch.

Cost: £ 20 per bag.  But why didn'r the bag maker put two handles on in manufacture?

Hi!
YES!  I''be rolled 1339's THREE replacement sails from new.
I sail twice weekly, towing from home to beach, and I've not detected ANY detriment to each sail at all!
But I readily confess to unfounded anxiety early on.

I use standard plastic drain-pipe (3m length from B&Q is good for 9 rig, shorten for others) It's about 8-10 cm I think.

I use a 5 cm diameter tube.

Cheers

Hi all,

I'm not happy about my sail folding in half when carrying it in the bag around the boat park and to and from the car. Is anyone storing it around a PVC pipe similar to this link on screwfix (https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-solvent-weld-pipes-white-50mm-x-3m/88188).

If you are, I'd be interested to hear what diameter tube you are using?

Thanks

Tim
