Trailing a pair of RS Aeros

Going beyond carpet, I was able to find an old memory foam mattress topper which I cut up into pads that fit the pads on the white bag. This worked brilliantly for double-stacking on the standard Mersea 8" wheel trailer for the worlds last week. The boats sit neatly behind a small car (mini cooper) and towing was fuel efficient and easy. The second trailer goes upside down and back-to-front on more pads on the top boat. I'll take photos during unpacking today, in case anyone wants to try something similar.

thanks. The carpet seems like a good idea. The original advert certainly talks about stacking the hulls for transport. I like to have both top and bottom covers to keep the hull clean and avoid any damage from grit when driving - so maybe custom covers are needed to fit over the pair of hulls when stacked.

On balance I'll probably look into upgrading my road base to a double stacker.

cheers

Hi Mike,
I have stacked 2 Aeros, and if you check the sales blurb you will see that this is one of the selling points. There is a shot with six or so stacked!
You have to clear the deck of fittings (again, by design they just slide off). We  put  pieces of carpet in between the hulls to avoid rubbing.
I can't remember what we did with the second trolley. It probably went on top.

thanks, I'll look at Admiral trailers.

I'd still be interested to hear if anyone stacks the hulls, I can see that this would keep all the weight nice and low and should offer a better mpg due to less drag. That said, I can't immediately see how the second launch trolley would fit. Maybe inverted on the top(?)

cheers

Hi Mike, I have found a double stacker is a great way to transport boats. It provides safe easy transport plus flexibility. I got mine from Admiral trailers near Exeter. Just the job!! Nigel

Hi,

last year I bought an Aero and found that they are a great way to get your kid enthusiastic about racing. In the interest of sailing the Aero more myself I'm considering getting a second.

how are people transporting two - is stacking the hulls an option or is a road trailer with two racks the only way to go?

thanks for any experiences or suggestions,
Mike
