Trolley does not fit road base
I've had this issue. My first aero fit fine my second looked as yours did but my newest one is fine again so without any other evidence I believe there must have been a batch of trolleys around 2020 made to a slightly different specification. Fortunately the fix is quite simple!
On each side you have a box section piece that is hitting the tabs of the trolley, on the trolleys that fit this is about 2 inches shorter. As it's aluminium just take a hacksaw and shorten this so that it allows the trolley to come the rest of the way on. I recommend filing the edges after cutting to remove any sharp bits you could cut yourself on.
Doesn't affect performance of the trolley at all

Well I have the boat on a road trailer...but, I expected the trailer tabs to lock over the trolley axle bar. I'm surprised that they are (incompletely) over the outside bars. Is this how others who are regular travellers expect things to work - it seems a strange design to me?

Maybe the road base is for the old trolley version. Could you change the trollery with your friend?

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Today I tried a new trolley (last year's model) on the road base and it doesn't fit in the same way as mine, so issue appears to be the trailer! I can't see any way that I can make the trolley fit in any secure way; if I was only travelling a few miles I might risk a rope tie down, but with a 180 mile motorway journey, I'd like very good security.
Plan now is to borrow a different roadbase that is adjustable and allegedly fits both an Aero and a Fireball; I'll be trying that tomorrow...fingers crossed!

In order to get my trolley to fit a very old mersea trailer ,I attached some wooden strips to the axle of my trailer. These also lift the trolley wheels off any sleeping policemen . I attached wooden chocks at each side to prevent lateral movement . There is an aluminium strip on top to prevent wear to the wood and allow the trolley to slide on more easily.

Hi Jerry,
There was some small varience in early trolley dimensions whilst it evolved to the final design, which created some ocurrences of this fitting issue.
As you are borrowing it;
- Can it be tied securely and safely, as it is placed in you photos?
- Can the rear axle be lifted over the axel tabs on either one or both sides, to get the trolley further forward?

I had the same problem, and contacted west mersea who sent me a free fitting to replace the bar on my trolley to fit the old style trailer.

I have seen different types of the original Trolleys. I do not remember the details, it had to do with the way the wheel bar is mounted.

I've borrowed a club mate's Mersea 250 road base to trail my Aero to my old club over the New Year - he uses it for his Aero. However, my trolley doesn't fit the road base - the axle tabs prevent the trolley coming fully forward to properly engage the front and rear points - see pics.
Any thoughts?
