' Upwind Sailing Through Waves
So people are constantly telling you to stop using the rudder - For once it can be your ally.
- Flat is fast, but heel enables the rudder to lift the bow and then the transom over waves.
- Rhythm of steering, sheeting and body movement with the waves is key!
- Push then pull the rudder, lifting the bow up the wave front then dropping it down the back.
- Sheet in then sheet out, with steering
- Body back then forward, as you go over the wave
